Vocational training
Everyone can become a “produser”, a term synthesising “producers” and “users”. European Youth4Media Network offers you vocational training courses across Europe, which can help you to develop your skills in effective use of ICT and new media. You can become a web-TV reporter, new media journalist or even a trainer.Participants on our training courses will acquire skills in the field of new media and ICT, in particular the creative use of digital audio-visual media and the Internet. They will also acquire knowledge about methodologies for teaching media skills to children, young people, social workers, community media workers, NGO leaders, migrants and senior citizens.
Vocational training courses are conducted across Europe on the national or European level. Every course consists of 3 phases:
- preparation phase supported with e-learning. Participants joing virtual learning environment (VLE) and study the material on-line. They can ask questions and be in touch with their tutor.
- face-to-face (F2F) seminar, which lastst 6 days. Participants are working in 2 groups (5 people each). There is one trainer and one co-trainer or support staff in each group.
- internship done at any of the community media centre, NGO or other civil society institution. During the internship a trainee is working on her/his first video report. The video report must be uploaded by the trainee on-line.
After those 3 steps (VLE, F2F, internship) participants get their certificates with concrete descriprion of the knowledge and skills acquired.
Training courses are conducted on national and European level. There are 3 modules of the vocational training:
- module A - video journalism (basic)
- module B - new media journalism (intermediate)
- module C - trainer competences (advanced)
EU-Trainer for ICT and New Media is a project, which aims to develop, test and disseminate the modular vocational training created and to try to embed it in the professional development programmes of the partner countries - Belgium, Cyprus, Germany, Finland, Poland, Romania, Turkey and United Kingdom. This process will be conducted by the European Youth4Media Network and the Federal Association of Public and Educational Media in other European countries. The Europe-wide modular vocational training will result in a recognised qualification, with cross-border recognition ensuring its validity in any participating countries.
